Today we join @rotarydistrict7030 and the rest of the world to recognize #WorldMentalHealthDay under the theme "Mental Health at Work" 🙏 As we continue to advocate for proper mental health, #rotaryclubofdominica is in the process of refurbishing the kitchenette at the Dominica Acute Psychiatric Unit at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital. Additional works will be done to enhance the space to meet the needs of nurses and residents. It's Creole season in #Dominica and in celebration, we got a masterclass in Creole Headwrapping from the cultural icon, Mrs. Delia Cuffy-Weekes. We were taught how to wrap two types of head pieces using authentic madras cloth, newspapers, pins and heads. 😅. We are grateful to Mrs. Weekes for sharing her time and talent with us. September is Rotary's Basic Education and Literacy Month! In our first meeting for the month, Chief Librarian Ag. Renita Charles spoke to the club about the role of libraries in our community and how service organizations like ours could partner with the library for it to continue fulfilling those roles. In addition, the topic of Braille was highlighted allowing us more insight in to the world of the visually impaired.
